SOCIAL LIFE

Cambridge is a great place to visit, with something for every taste – and only 45 minutes from London.  Our team will help you enjoy your stay to the full, and will give you all the help you need to get the most from our beautiful city and its surroundings.

The University  of Cambridge dates back to the 13th century, which gives the town its unique atmosphere as well as providing examples of some of the most outstanding architecture to be seen anywhere in Europe. Visitors should not miss the magnificent college buildings or the beautiful 'Backs' - the lawns that sweep down to the river from the backs of the colleges. There are museums and galleries to suit every taste from the technical to the artistic. Cambridge has four theatres, two main concert halls, an 'art' cinema as well as commercial multi-screens and innumerable other venues for live performances of all kinds, including classical, jazz and the latest rock music. Those who like sport will find plenty to do: there are several swimming pools and a sports hall, as well as many fitness clubs and classes.

Everyone gets on well together here so you’ll easily make friends – and our helpful team members will make sure you can take part in the events and activities that interest you.

We do not offer a ready-made social programme which you have to pay for whether you want it or not.
During the summer we arrange ad hoc activities and events to suit the tastes of our students:
barbeques, horse racing at Newmarket, open-air theatre in college gardens, evening punting trips, visits to traditional pubs......  we tell you the price and you can choose which you’d like to join – and we’re very happy to listen to your suggestions for things to do.

Throughout the year there are weekend day trips to places interest around England, and even whole weekends away to destinations such as Scotland, Ireland and the West Country
Below are some examples of excursions from Cambridge:

  • LONDON
  • WEST END MUSICALS
  • VIKING CITY OF YORK
  • ROYAL WINDSOR
  • OXFORD
  • HISTORIC PALACES, CASTLES & HOUSES
  • THEME PARKS
  • PREMIER LEAGUE FOOTBALL MATCHES
  • WEEKEND TRIP TO EDINBURGH
  • WEEKEND TRIP TO PARIS

A full Pre-Course Pack containing your time-table, maps and guides will be sent to you before your course begins, and when you arrive our Social Organiser will deal with any questions you have and help you to book excursions and other activities, as well as dealing with practical things such as opening bank accounts.
